If you are looking for a fun and forgiving painting medium, then you should try acrylics. Acrylics are relatively easy to use and require less planning than other painting mediums. As a result, acrylic painting gives you more freedom and time to concentrate on your creativity. I like acrylics because I can be spontaneous with them. If I make mistakes or later decide to change part of the painting, I can make my changes easily, without anyone ever knowing. I tend to be impatient when I paint (the opposite of when I draw), so the quick drying time and forgiveness of acrylic paints suit me well. With my pencil drawings, I am more rigid and planned because improvements are harder to make. Sure, I can always erase, but the picture never comes out as good as I hoped. I like impressionist and expressionist styles of painting, though occassionally I will slip into hard-edge abstraction. Some of my favorite modern acrylic painters include Joe Innis and John Govett.
